Microsoft: Turning Japanese

Microsoft is doing all the right things to appeal to Japanese consumers with Xbox 2, at least on the surface. In the last week, they've announced agreements with Hironobu Sakaguchi, Yoshiki Okamoto, and Tetsuya Mizuguchi to create games for the next-generation console.

If those names don't ring a bell with you, try their games: Final Fantasty I-IV, Resident Evil, Rez, Street Fighter and Space Channel 5.

This isn't going to put any kind of dent in Sony's dominance in Japan, but it does help Microsoft's credibility in that market.
