Bzz Out

Tonight we were playing a game called "Bzz Out." It's a little card game that helps teach counting and strategy, and Gloria bought it for Eli 3.9 so that he could have fun learning his numbers.

All of the cards for this game have bees doing funny things. They're weightlifting and blowing bubbles and bowling and taking baths, and there's a number on each card representing the number of bees.

For each round, you look at your card and have to decide if you want to keep it or trade with another player. If you want to keep it, you say "Beekeeper." At the end of the round, everyone shows their card, and the player with the highest card wins a little "honey pot" token. Then you put those cards in the discard pile and go to the next round.

So we're playing this game together, and at the end of the round, Eli 3.9 doesn't turn in his card. He's sitting on it.

"Eli, turn in your card," Gloria says.
"My card?" he asks, feigning innocence. "Hmm. I don't know where it is."
"It's under your butt," she says.
"My BUTT?" he asks, almost giggling.
"Yeah, dude," I say. "It's Beekeeper, not Buttkeeper."
"BUTTKEEPER!" he shouted. Apparently, "buttkeeper" is the funniest word a 3.9 year old can hear, because Eli fell over onto the carpet and couldn't stop laughing. That also started a chain reaction of "Hey, buttkeeper!" comments for the rest of the night.

High comedy at our house.
