Xbox 360: $299 Price Point?

From GamesIndustry.biz
(http://www.gamesindustry.biz/content_page.php?aid=9320):
Microsoft's Xbox 360 will be priced at $299 when it hits shelves later this year, according to analysts at major investment bank UBS, with Microsoft subsidising each console to the tune of $75 in order to meet that price point.

Like I said, if the launch price for the console is $299, they'll sell everything they can make.

One thing that I believe isn't being mentioned anywhere is the amount of media hype there will be for this launch. Games (and gaming hardware) are perceived as far more important by the mainstream press now than they were when the original Xbox launched. There will be exponentially more coverage for this launch than there was for either the original Xbox or PS2.
