CES
The Consumer Electronics show is happening in Vegas as I write this. News and product announcements come out of CES at a blistering rate, and it's very difficult to keep up with everything. On a side note, Microsoft announced that they're releasing an external HD-DVD player for the Xbox 360 by the end of this year. I've seen some negative press on this, but I'm not sure why--making the drive external and for movies only gives them an out of the HD-DVD format doesn't gain traction and dies off (which might well happen). They needed to get to market before Sony, and committing to internal HD-DVD drives when no one knows if the format will even survive could have been disastrous, not to mention expensive.
