Pearls Before Breakfast

DQ reader Kurt Yungel sent me a link to one of the most interesting articles I've read in a long time.

The article is about a social experiment involving Joshua Bell, one of the world's finest classical violinists. He agreed to pose as a street musician and play outside the Washington Metro (the mass transit system) at rush hour.

It's a remarkable idea, and the reporter (Gene Weingarten) did a brilliant job of exploring what happened. Registration required, but for this article it is absolutely worth it. Read the article here.
