The Italia

Here you go:

Yes, it's the Pontiac Italia. What the hell is that?

A fair question, and the answer is here: This Coach-Built 1979 Pontiac Firebird Is One Of One, Asks $26,995.

Incredibly, this car was built to look quite a bit (at casual glance) like a Ferrari, but the base is a Pontiac Firebird. One of the strangest auto combinations ever.

How did I see this bizarre chimera of an automobile? We've been looking for a used Honda-CRV for Eli 16.0, and this dealer had one (we bought it). The Italia was in the lobby, and man, it looked brand new. Incredibly striking.

I asked the salesman how it was still unsold, and he said "It looks like a Ferrari, but it still drives like a Firebird."

Fair point.

So Eli 16.0 has his own vehicle now, and I got to see a very obscure bit of automotive history as well.
