More Fate

I've got a few additional notes about Fate to share with you.

First, thanks to DQ reader Scott Zolnoski, who mentioned two features that I hadn't discussed:
--Your pet can be sent back to town to sell items while you continue through the dungeon. Left-click on the small bar beneath your pet's feeding icon. However, the length of time your pet is gone corresponds to how deep you are in the dungeon, so be sure you can survive on your own before you do this.

--There are altars and statues scattered around the dungeon that can enchant weapons or offer gems. They also, at times, will summon monsters, so it's another choice that you must make.

Second, I've gotten several e-mails from people who have downloaded the game and are already hooked. It's truly a wonderful game.

Third, the program uses the Wild Tangent distribution system. There has been a long-running (and still continuing) discussion over whether Wild Tangent is spyware. My spyware program doesn't identify it as such, but others do. If you're concerned about this, you might wait for the Shockwave or Try Media distributions, which are both supposed to available sometime in the future.
