I can't believe I forgot to mention this: if at all possible, buy two car seats--one for your car, and one for your spouse's. Believe me, once you get the car seat securely installed, you're never going to want to touch it again. Reinstalling it three or four times a week (or more) as you switch it between cars is guaranteed to be a gigantic pain in the ass.And what I said about installing the car seat also goes for painting the baby's room. Oops. That was brought up in an e-mail from an anonymous DQ reader who thought there was plenty of time to finish.
