Playoff Notes
Ottawa is down 2-0 in the Stanley Cup Finals to Anaheim, and it's looking fairly grim--Anaheim has outplayed them for long stretches of both games.I can't root for Anaheim, though. If Anaheim wins the Stanley Cup on Tuesday night, no one in Anaheim will even remember by noon on Wednesday. If Ottawa wins, they'll talk about it every day for the next ten years. That puts me firmly in Ottawa's camp.
I happened to turn on the NBA Conference Finals last night with about 2:30 left in regulation. The game wound up going to double overtime. And I never saw anyone on Cleveland score except LeBron James.
That's right--he scored Cleveland's last 25 points. And he was 11-14 from the field during that time.
It's the greatest single performance in a playoff game I've ever seen, given the importance of the game and the absolute ineptitude of the rest of the team. He was double-teamed, he was driving past all five players on the Pistons, he was shooting from everywhere on the court, and they were all going in. It was stunning.
