A Couple Of Additional Notes
1. I completely acknowledge that major college sports are an absolute cesspool of cheating. Even if true, what Michigan is allegedly doing is done by other programs all over the country. That doesn't make it right, though, and it doesn't make the kids who complained about it wrong.2. There is a seismic rift in the Michigan program between boosters who support Rodriguez and boosters who wanted someone with past ties to the program to be hired as head coach. I don't think it's possible to overstate the conflict between the two groups.
3. Todd Brakke of The Nut And The Feisty Weasel is a dedicated University of Michigan fan and a terrific writer (I wish he wrote more, actually), and he has a perspective on this issue that is radically different from mine. He also has the perspective of someone who closely follows the program, which makes it an interesting counterpoint to what I wrote. Hit the link for more.
