McMuffin Math

From an anonymous math source, believe it or not:
I actually used to work for Houghton-Mifflin as an editor in the math department. You would be surprised at how much writing we actually did, and how little input the "authors" actually had. Basically the work flow was to give the authors giant bags of money so we could attach their name to the book. Then we gave another group of writers slightly smaller bags of money to actually write the lessons. Then our salaried editors would work overtime, rewriting everything that was previously done. And that's how the cycle of incompetence was completed.
