Two Terrific Pieces of Writing

Chris Kohler writes another one of his rock-solid pieces with an article about Valve and their vision for the Steam Machine: Full Steam Ahead: Inside Valve’s Grand Plan to Replace Game Consoles With PCs.

If you ever wanted to know what Valve was thinking, this article explains it clearly. And as I've said many times before, it is a serious mistake to dismiss Valve's chances here, because they are almost always the smartest guy in the room.

The second piece is a long-form Sports Illustrated article written by Michael McKnight titled Faster Than The Fastest: Jesse Owens wasn’t afraid of Adolf Hitler or Jim Crow, but he feared Eulace Peacock. I like to think I'm fairly literate in sports history, but I'd never even heard of Eulace Peacock until today. McKnight's article, though, is a beautiful, riveting piece of work, sports journalism at its finest.
