Madeleine Peyroux
If you listen to Billie Holiday, you will be astonished by Madeleine Peyroux's album "Careless Love." I have never heard anyone whose voice and phrasing is so similar, and in a beautiful way. She also covers Dylan's "You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go," and it is one of the most remarkable interpretations of a Dylan song that I've ever heard, every bit as singular and memorable as Hendrix's "All Along the Watchtower."I'd give you an Amazon link, but apparently, they're down. Ouch. That's not going to help their revenue numbers.
