A Million Little Pieces (Damn It)

I wrote a few months ago about "A Million Little Pieces," an extraordinarily powerful book by James Frey about his addiction that was so intense the pages almost blistered your fingers.

Please note that I wrote about this BEFORE Oprah made it a selection for her book club.

What made the book so powerful was that it was true.

Hmm.

At least, it was supposed to be true. Now, The Smoking Gun has published a long investigative piece that does a convincing job of making the "truth" seem like much less than that.

Damn it. That book absolutely blew me away. The guy's still a great writer--maybe a much better writer than anyone thought, since the book may be more fiction than non-fiction--but it's still disappointing to hear about this.
