Links to Keep You From Working

Some very good stuff in here. Clearly, you're already on the miscreant path. This will move you further along.

First, from Robot Wisdom Weblog, a link to a Jimi Hendrix performance of "Wind Cries Mary." It's fantastic, and here's the link:

DQ reader Jesse Leimkuehler sent in a link to another interesting gaming magazine. This one is called Gamers Quarter and it comes out--quarterly. Here's the link:
http://www.gamersquarter.com.

Michael Stedman sent in a link to a surround sound headphone adapter from JVC. It's a less expensive way to get into Dolby headphone than buying a digital receiver with a headphone jack that supports the Dolby headphone standard. It looks like an interesting product and it will be available in March. Here's the link:

DQ reader Francis Cermak sends in a link to a custom controller to be used in conjunction with the Guitar Freaks games.

Let me just say right now: Guitar Freaks is not Guitar Hero. Do not confuse them.

However, the reason I'm posting the link is because of the freaking controller. Two hundred bones to buy one, and it's pretty amazing looking. Here's the link:

Now that I've looked at that controller again, though, here's the question: it certainly looks more like a real guitar, but it's still got fret buttons and the strum bar. So how is that any better?

And I'm not going to stop talking about Guitar Hero until every single one of you has played it.

Here's an interesting announcement via Game Shout
(http://www.gameshout.com/news/012006/article2440.htm):
Direct TV announced plans to make their digital television available on the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system, as well as on PCs running windows.

That's a good idea. Not that you guys don't already know that.

Microsoft's also "abandoned" their shipping targets for the first 90 days after the 360 launch. It's certainly not good that they did a poor job of calculating supply, but not nearly as big a problem as if they had misestimated demand. There seems to be plenty of demand. Selling every console you can make is a good problem to have.
