Links!

Lots and lots of good links this week--so many that there will be another links post tomorrow.

Three terrific writers each have an excellent article in issue #96 of The Escapist. Allen Varney has an article about the Street Fighter 2 culture here, and Lara Crigger writes about the character of Ada Wong in Resident Evil here.

Those are both really, really good reads, but Russ Pitts has an article titled "Westernization by Zombification" where he references Maslow's hierarchy of needs. The man is just working on another level from the rest of us. Read it here.

Matthew Sakey's excellent Culture Clash column has a new installment, and you can read it here.

There's an article over at Gamasutra titled "Halo Science 101," and it is so incredibly geeky that I laughed out loud (in a good way) while I was reading it. Nerd-up and read it here.

DQ reader Teddy Fuhringer has started a blog, and it's pretty damned good. It's called "Popular Fiction," and you can read it here.

Thanks to Mike Richardson for sending me links to an article over at Ars Technica (the first part of a series, actually) about why writing matters in games. Read part one ("Advancing the Art of Storytelling") here.

Now, a few non-gaming links.

First, the ten best football (soccer) dives of all-time. The descriptions are outstanding--I only wish we had videos. Read about them here.

Here's a fascinating article from American Heritage about the plot to steal Abraham Lincoln's body. It's a great read, like almost everything in the magazine, and you can read it here.

DQ Legal Advisor and Swimming Consultant Lee Rawles sends in a link about concrete that eats pollution. The surface is covered with a photocatalytic element that converts pollutants into salt. It's remarkable, and you can read about it here.
