Gaming Links

Before I get started, here's a note: everyone I know who has MLB Power Pros absolutely loves it, and I'm to the point where I'm about to cave and pick it up. The grumpy old bastards at The Blog for the Sports Gamer have several posts with impressions, and their site is here. They also have forums now.

Kieron Gillen (along with Jim Rossignol and Alec Meer over at Rock, Paper, Shotgun) has written a witty and detailed analysis of the various Classes in Team Fortress 2. All nine classes are covered individually, and you can read it here.

Rock, Paper, Shotgun is required daily reading now.

Gamespot has a tremendous interview with Ken Levine about the world of BioShock. There are plenty of spoilers, so skip this if you haven't played the game. If you have, though, this interview is full of insight, and you can read it here (thanks Rob).

And as another BioShock pleasure, here's a story from WayForward director Adam Tierney about his experience with the game, courtesy of N'Gai Croal's Level Up. If Tierney's games (most recently, Looney Tunes: Duck Amuck for the DS, which is coming out next week) are half as interesting as his storytelling, they should be a blast. Read the article here.

There's an excellent interview with Jane Jensen (Gabriel Knight, and apparently a pretty damned good science fiction writer as well) over at The Escapist (thanks Sirius).

What I like about Jane Jensen is that she can be blunt and grouchy as hell, but at the same time, she's not an ass. The interview is very, very interesting--read it here.

Finally, Matthew Sakey's excellent Culture Clash has a new installment, and this month it discusses the Lean Manufacturing strategy and how it could possibly be applied to the gaming industry. Read it here.
