Hybir Backup

DQ reader Rasch Young has launched a new company called "Hybir," and here's the press release: Hybir.

Hybir is an online backup service, but it's quite slick. Here's the explanation from the press release:
Hybir Backup performs data de-duplication at the client against the cloud while also supporting private key encryption. The patent pending Hybir technology eliminates the need to actually send most of the data to perform a backup.

What that basically means is that Hybir doesn't have to upload everything on your system to make a full backup --the files that already exist in the cloud are used if they're identical. This means much faster backups, and I've been in the beta for the last couple of months, so that's based on personal experience.

The program is also very easy to use and has a simple, easy to understand interface.

This is a brilliant piece of work, so if you're interested in an online backup service, check it out. And if you want to be completely blown away, take a look at the "in action" screencast.

Bonus: Rasch created a promo code for you guys. If you type in "dubiousquality" you get an extra free month (they're offering one free month already).
